Harmonic studies & G5/5 assessment requirements
ENA Engineering Recommendation G5 Issue 5, commonly called G5/5, addresses harmonic voltage distortion and connection assessment for harmonic sources and resonant plant on UK transmission and distribution networks.
If your connection offer requests a G5/5 assessment, share the network operator’s requirements when discussing the scope. Monitoring, modelling inputs, assessment responsibilities and any specialist support must be agreed for the project.

Useful questions
Is power quality monitoring the same as a G5/5 assessment?
No. Monitoring records network behaviour over a defined period. A connection-related harmonic assessment may also need network data, equipment information and modelling against the network operator’s requirements. The required assessment scope should be confirmed before commissioning work.
